Vasan lives in his knockdown rebuild Madison 35 with his wife and and three children at Blacktown.
“We’d been living in a 60-year-old two bedroom home for seven years and, with three children (including a 17-year-old daughter), it was getting too much. But we loved our neighbourhood and community, moving just didn’t feel like an option, so we looked into a knockdown rebuild.
We didn’t shop around at all. My sister, cousin and a few friends have all built with Clarendon and had great experiences, so we didn’t think twice. Now, my brother is building with them too!
On the very first day we stepped into the Super Centre at Parklea our Sales Consultant impressed us with his fantastic explanation of the designs. As this was our first build, he explained everything clearly and gave us the right advice, helping us choose the right design for our lot.
He assessed the dimensions of our block and gave us the designs that would work best – the Madison 35 ended up being our preferred choice. It sits on our lot perfectly and has six bedrooms, which is a big change from the two we had before. Although he didn’t have a role in the actual building of our house, our consultant remained interested, explaining the contract to us and being generally helpful along the way. To be honest, Clarendon did so much more than we expected and we’ll never forget that.
It was a special moment when we first walked into the completed home. During the build we’d been renting a block away, so we’d all seen the home come to life, except for my daughter. She didn’t really say why, but she didn’t want to see the home until it was finished. She moved out of the old house with us and then didn’t look again until we were ready to move in. We were all so happy, but she was the most excited. She was hugging me and taking it all in; she was finally going to have her own space!
My favourite room in the house is the master bedroom’s balcony; it has such a great view that we were missing out on before because of the old place being single storey. The kids love the home theatre and we are all loving the big kitchen and being able to cook a lot together.
We’ve had a couple of memorable family moments in the house since moving in in May this year, but the first happened to be my birthday. I like to take credit for constructing the whole timeline around this, but it was a happy accident.”
