So you’ve decided to build a home. We know that of all the factors you’ll consider when embarking on this exciting journey, one of the most significant is the budget. Maybe you have a specific figure in mind and are determined to stick to it. Maybe you have a bit of wiggle room and want to consider options. Either way, like all customers, the last thing you want is unexpected costs.

Many home builders provide customers with an array of home designs to choose from online, and the ability to adapt floorplans to their needs. But what if you could not only select and personalise the design of your home online but price it in real-time, with your choice of upgrades, packages and promotions applied at the click of a mouse?

Introducing Clarendon Homes’ new Pricing Tool, a game changer for customers wanting a clear, detailed estimate of costs upfront – before even setting foot in a Display Centre or sales office.

“While customers are drawn to Clarendon for our depth of experience and range of home designs, pricing weighs heavily into their decision on who to build with, particularly in the current economic climate,” says Julie McKinnon, NSW Marketing Manager for Clarendon Homes. “By making prices more accessible, we’re giving customers a way to research our designs to find homes to fit their budget and land.

“Customers can also use the tool to make comparisons to help them to better understand the relative market value.”

So how does the online pricing tool work? Let’s walk through the process.

Choose your home design

More than 70 home designs are available across Clarendon’s Aspire and Luxe ranges, and they’re all on the website for you to explore. Let’s say you’re keen on a four-bedroom, single-storey Aspire home. Go to Home Designs on the home page, apply filters such as bedroom number, select Find My Home, and we’ll show you a range of flexible designs that fit the bill. 

Let’s have a look at one from the popular Manning series, the 265.8sqm Manning 29. The base price is $380,000, but with the generous $55,000 Home Time Promotion discount automatically applied, we’re starting at $325,000. (Note that promotions apply for a limited time.)

Essentials package

These are the features that every home needs, but some builders leave out of the upfront price. Clarendon packages them up for convenience and transparency: fully ducted reverse cycle aircon; upgraded insulation; rainwater tank and solar; standard site costs and building fees, and much more. For the Manning 29, the Essentials package price is $56,000. Like the floorplan options, this will be included in our final estimate.

Choose your facade

One of our favourite stages in the process: giving your home a façade that adds street appeal and suits your own style, in this case from a gallery of five options ranging from Classic brick (included) to the country-chic Alpine ($13,000). We like a luxurious modern look, so opt for Contemporary ($8,300).

Your new home price estimate

And here’s where the magic happens. Check your selections, choose the Download button, provide some details … and a full estimate is on its way to your email inbox. The document contains not just a Total Estimate ($402,690 for our Manning 29) but a breakdown of the choices you made online, plus your personalised floorplan and a list of your home’s many inclusions, from high-quality fixtures, fittings and finishes to site works and permissions.

What’s next?

All that’s left to do is take your estimate to a Clarendon Homes Display Centre, where our sales consultants can talk you through any of your queries ensure your design fits your block and budget and provide you with a quote. Next is a visit to the Lifestyle Studio to make final interior and exterior selections.

“The standard inclusions in both our Luxe and Aspire ranges allow you to build a quality home with a level of choice when it comes to style and colours,” says McKinnon. “The budget you will need to allow for any upgrades to standard fixtures and fittings will vary depending on your individual taste and preferences.”

She adds that for customers choosing a House & Land package with Clarendon, the price estimate is already built in. “It’s all done for you, and we’ve already matched the home design to suit the block, so you won't need to use the online pricing tool. However, if you see a house and land package on our website in a suburb or estate you like but wonder if an alternate home design can be included, speak to a sales consultant at your nearest display centre and they can help to guide you.”
