What is an acreage home design?

At Clarendon Homes, our acreage homes are beautiful open-plan single-storey homes designed by our team of expert designers to suit a range of block sizes from 20m+ wide to 30m+ wide. They are specifically designed to enhance the aesthetic of a wider rural block or acreage.
What size block will fit an acreage home by Clarendon?
Your block is usually considered to be an acreage if the total area is a minimum of one acre (or 4,047 square metres). The street frontage is usually much wider than a suburban block so it can accommodate a homestead style of home. An acreage block is usually found in rural areas which means a single-storey home would be a better design option to suit the surrounding landscape.
The good news is, you don’t need a whole acre to build an acreage home with Clarendon. Usually, a 1/4 acre (1000m2) level rural block is big enough for one of our stunning acreage homes. This means you can build a beautiful acreage home whether you have 1/4 acre, 1 acre or multiple acres.

What's an acreage estate?
If you’re looking to buy an acreage or rural block, a good option is buying into an acreage estate. These are a great option when you want the space and privacy of a rural block within a well-maintained community. These types of estates usually have all the services (water, electricity, septic) connected when you buy the block.
Acreage estates often have building design guidelines so it’s a good idea to check what these are before you commit to buying your block. Some estates have guidelines that mean you have to build a one-off architecturally designed home and cannot go with a project builder, like Clarendon Homes, or there could be restrictions on types of building materials or home size.
