For families who want a home that is both a sanctuary and a place for laid-back entertaining, the single-storey Haven 28 is ideal. “The design brief was to create a welcoming family home that would make entertaining, indoors and out, easy.” Says Nicholas Boliantis, Senior Architect and Designers, Clarendon Homes.
Offering a relaxed lifestyle and flexible, open-plan living, the Haven more than delivers. This includes multiples areas for rest and recreation along with well-proportioned outdoor zones that beckon you outside and make you feel connected to nature.
All living areas enjoy garden views and lead out to the large corner alfresco zone, making you feel connected to nature and inviting natural light into the home’s interior. All to this the generous meals and rumpus spaces which are built for entertaining and the Haven delivers the kind of relaxed lifestyle modern families crave. The flexibility of the floorplan is another feature which makes the Haven a family favourite. The home can be increased in size to suit a family’s specific needs. This might take the form of a triple garage, larger bedrooms or a larger alfresco.” Says Nicholas.
In designing this home, form and functionality were the key design criteria. For Carolyn Piggott, Group Interior Design Manager for Clarendon Homes, one of the standout features of the design is the transition between the large alfresco and casual living spaces which gives the home a resort vide which has been reflected in the interior design of the display home.
“The casual relaxed theme with a strong emphasis on global lifestyle, mixed with natural earthy tones and textures reflects the environment – and a place to retreat to,” says Carolyn. “Fabrics, wallpaper and feature walls all hint towards a sophisticated palette of soft greens, greys and warm whites with a touch or organic and textured finishes creating an ambience reflecting nature.”
This can be seen throughout the home but is especially evident in the entertainer’s kitchen. “Here, laminate in the medium timber tones of Polytec Notaio Walnut is complemented with Quantum Quartz Reflection stone benchtops, reflecting the core paella of this contemporary style home,” says Carolyn. “The warmth of the timber laminates in both the kitchen and the bathroom vanities work in harmony with the large timber dining table which seats eight – perfect for entertaining.
“The main floor finish in Antarctic Taupe polished 600mm x 600mm large format tile limits the joint lines and enhances the sense of space while the carpet in Barlow Biscotti adds warmth to the bedroom zones. The walls, painted in Taubmans Crisp White coordinate with the warm timber, soft greys and greens, taupe, tan hints of charcoal.”
The selection of fittings and appliances show the same attention to detail. “Feature pendant lighting to the kitchen island bench and dining table complements the homes contemporary resort style,” says Carolyn. “Then there is the Smeg built-in 900 under-bench oven, together with the Smeg appliance pack of dishwasher, microwave and slide-out rangehood that make this a chef’s kitchen.
“In the main bathroom, the freestanding bath engenders a sense of luxury while the profiled feature doors throughout the home add attention to detail. This extends to a translucent glass door to the walk-in pantry for added glam.” The Haven showcased here, on display at the Waterford masterplanned estate in Chisholm in the Hunter region of NSW, features a contemporary yet earthy Carlton facade.
Says Nicholas, “The Colorbond roof in Woodland Grey and the matching window frames complement the facade finishes that include a mix of Biowood Deep Walnut, PGH Opaline Tiger Eye brick and the Livingston Grey tile used to cladthe feature blade wall. These combine to present a harmonious, organic external palette. “The exterior colour palette seamlessly transitions through to the interior of this home where the calming resort ambience makes day-to-day living a pleasure.”
